The Capital City, Aria
Capital City, Aria
Title: City of Prosperity
Region: Lotheria
Size: Large City
Population: 21,764
Demographics: 14,531 Humans, 6,287 Halflings, 946 Other, Specifically No Elves
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Leader: Councilman GĂ©rald Brunelle
Notable Information: The City of Aria is the largest city in Lotheria, as expected from the Capital. However, something that is often not expected is the sheer number of happy and prospering people. For a city this size, a large slum/poor area is common, but Aria doesn't seem to have a true slum. The closest thing that comes to a slum is the small area built around the southern mine (22c). The people of Aria boast about their wealth, happiness, and lack of hardship, but this doesn't happen without other "sacrifices." Slavery is a very, very common thing in Aria. It is rare that a family won't have at least one slave around the house. A large portion of the time, the slaves are Halfing as well. There have been Orc or Dwarf Slaves, but this is usually an indentured servitude thing, not actual ownership. Halfling, however, are seen as property, and have very little rights beyond what their owners give them.
Districts
The Skyline: The Skyline is a neighborhood full of Aria's wealthiest people and most illustrious attractions, such as the library, the enchanter, the theater, and the arts guild. The neighborhood is built upon a hill, moving along the edge of the Illthemar Highlands. To enter the Skyline, you must travel through the Inner Gate, located at the bottom of the hill. Following a long stone path, you'll pass by many different upscale shops, homes, and then come to the Castle Gate.
The Heights: The Heights are a middle-high class neighborhood, mostly built of residential homes. The Engineers of Aria have begun to master vertical building, allowing for apartment like homes to be built in this area. Though it does not stretch over a large area, the Heights is the second most populous district of Aria. The people of the Heights have the biggest mixture of residents, from labor workers, to merchants, to dock workers and just about anything else you could think of.
The Wade: The Wade is a smaller neighborhood, but just as nicely done as the Heights. However, they are not apartment-like buildings, but single story homes of middle-high class status. The Wade is commonly used as a walkthrough for anyone heading to The Grand Stadium. The people that live here are usually merchants, people of the arts, educators, and warriors.
The Crowd: The crowd is a middle class area of scattered houses that have been tucked real closely. These homes area all smaller and much less organized, but are notably taken care of and updated like any part of the town. Those who live in the crowd normally work the farms, docks, or smaller market places built throughout Aria.
The Flats: The Flats are not much different than the Crowd, however, they are built in a more organized way, giving some space between homes, unlike neighborhoods like the heights or the Crowd. Most of the people living here are miners, fishermen, and other labor workers.
The Grand Market: The Grand Market is a huge market place. While there are a few residential buildings thrown in here, most of the place is used to sell, sell, sell. This is where just about anything can be found in Aria, including the city's most popular inn (12).
Numbered Buildings
1. Castle Aria
2. The Lively Charm [Jeweler]
Owner: Anita Lambert, Human, Age: Mid 60s
Vibrant and sheen, pretty little things are on display throughout the small shop, laid across tables, bundled in boxes, and spread across tables. Rings, necklaces, hair pins, bracelets, arm bands, and more are on offer. Although none of it looks outlandishly expensive, you do spot a few higher grade items, set with gems, precious metals, or both.
3. The Platinum Theatre
4. The Stained Pallet [Artistry Guild]
5. Archive of Aria [Library]
6. Axel's Enchantry [Enchanter]
7. Cathedral of Aria [Kalo/Cantil Worship]
8. The First Garrison
9. Moitessier Estate
10. Church of Gaia [Nature]
11. The Docks
12. The Sorcerer's Drink
Owner: Natalie Clair
As you cross the threshold into the Sorcerer's Drink, the noise of the outside city rapidly fades into a blissful library-like silence. A soft disembodied voice sounds from your left, though no one is standing there. "Your coats, please?" As soon as you remove your cloaks and jackets, they are plucked out of your hands by an unseen force and spirited off to a nearby cloakroom, the door of which appears to open of its own accord.
The smell of roasted vegetables, stewing meats, sweet ales, and pipe smoke linger pleasantly, creating an intoxicating atmosphere. Heading into the common area, you find a fire that glows bright blue and giving off no heat. Trays of drinks and food float soundlessly throughout the room, maneuvering around the guests and avoiding collisions as they are delivered to waiting patrons. A jaunty tune fills the air, but there are no instruments or performers to be seen.
13. Trudeau's Final Brewery
14. Emira's Crossing
15. Illthemar Academy [Normal School]
16. Arena of the Valiant
17. The Steel Hold Garrison
18. The Silver Blades Guild Hall
19. The Circle Market
20. Church of Hatos [War]
21. The High Shield Garrison
22. Aria General Hospital
23. The Emira Inn
24. Church of Kalo [Magic]
25. The Shattered Sword [Tavern]
26. The Silver Sheath [Tavern]
27. The Open Door Orphanage
Caretaker: Judith Chastain
This large and well-maintained two story building gives off a homey atmosphere. The walkway is lined by nicely trimmed berry bushes, leading up to a stone stairway and ornately carved double door. As you approach, it is not hard to catch the sounds of laughter or the sight of children running by windows.

D) Mine - Iron
